About the Business
Underwood Hardware & D.I.Y Ltd (or simply Underwood's as it is known locally) was established in 1946. Underwood's expanded the Ironmongery business, and diversified into other areas to compliment the traditional business. It was sold to Roger Hewitt in 1985, and in April 2008 Paul Armbruster and David Wyard took over the business. The store is often referred to as an 'Aladin's cave' as there is a host of different services and a huge variety of stock.
The staff pride themselves on being as helpful and knowledgeable as possible, whether it's a single screw that's needed or a state of the art barbeque. Tools - both hand and power tools, from axes, saws and spanners to power drills and jigsaws. Decorating - from metal and emulsion paints (mixed and premixed) to sand paper and brushes. Homeware - from cleaning products and drain cleaners to a large selection of broom heads and door mats.
