About the Business
Being members of the Timber Trade Federation applying the Responsible Purchasing Policy and F.S.C (Forest Stewardship Council), we are committed to sourcing our timbers from legal and well managed forests, condemning illegal logging and working with other suppliers to eliminate it. Mr Burton started business in Liverpool, as a sole trader, in 1921 under the name of E O Burton & Co Ltd, specialising in supplying the ship and boat building trade with Mahogany, Iroko and Teak logs.
Mr Edgar Burton started up again in 1945 and took into partnership Mr Albert Godwin, offices were opened in Liverpool and London, In 1955 the company became a limited liability company. During 1959 the premises were obtained in the Brentwood area, a log mill and gantry crane erected and the conversion of logs from all over the world commenced.
